Help me give my students a working classroom piano! Our piano is warped and broken in several places. We've had it serviced often but it has become unfixable.
Our band program and music department have begun to blossom over the past several years. Despite the high poverty in our district and program cutbacks, many students are desperate to sing or play instruments in order to express themselves creatively and musically. While many students participate, others still are unable to join due to financial difficulties or lack of opportunity.
All people deserve creative channels to express themselves.
In order to best serve all of the students within the district, we must be creative with our resources while not denying any students the chance to grow. The desire is evident, and our top priority is to facilitate a safe, welcoming and equipped environment.
The students in my district face difficulties every day. They are resilient, hard-working kids, many of whom work jobs to support their families and farms. It is sometimes very difficult for the school to be able to provide everything these students need for success in music. They are the best reason to come to school every day, and they deserve every opportunity we can provide!
My Project
We use the piano in the band room almost every day of rehearsal. For years now we have fixed it in whatever way we can, replacing strings and borrowing one to fix another. Unfortunately, much of the piano is now unusable and beyond repair. A new piano would help us to be able to practice for solo and ensemble, learn music theory, ear training, follow along and demonstration of parts, and numerous other daily exercises.
A functioning piano is the most versatile instrument in the band room.
It is the instrument which time and again is relied upon to teach almost all others. By donating to our project, you can help provide the students with an instrument used constantly by both themselves and the directors. Almost every music standard in the curriculum relies on musical examples being demonstrated in class.
By supporting this project, you can have a direct and long-lasting impact on our music program. This instrument would be used for years to come to the musical education of our young musicians.
