My students are a group of diverse learners at a Title I school. Many come from low income families that face many challenges. Despite these challenges, every one of my students has the potential to be successful in their own way. They are so creative and never stop surprising me!
My goal is to provide the students with the tools they need to reach their full learning potential.
My 1st graders are wonderful, hard-working kids with a lot of fun energy. A sensory hallway would be just the thing to help us release some energy in a positive, thought-provoking way when needed. A sensory hallway would benefit not only our class, but the other students in the building who need that opportunity for an outlet for their movement needs. Many students need to get out the wiggles before being able to focus on their academics. With a sensory hallway, we will be able to give all students the opportunity to be successful in the classroom.
My Project
What happens to those students that have a little extra energy? Sitting in front of a computer or at a desk is not always the best way to reach many learners. Students in both the special education and general education setting often require an outlet for their extra energy and wiggles. A sensory hallway is a perfect way to allow students the chance to release some of that energy in a safe and fun way.
A sensory hallway will allow all students to have a place in the building where they can safely move and play in a structured environment.
The materials that are being asked for will give our students the chance to learn through movement, then get back to the classroom better prepared to learn. Let's help give these students every chance for success by allowing them the opportunity to move!
