My school is a multi-cultural, urban high school located just west of Milwaukee. The Mission of my school is to develop inquiry-driven, independent learners through instruction that is personalized and engaging with a focus on college/career readiness and 21st century skill development.
More than two-thirds of my students come from economically disadvantaged families, and many lack the basic supplies required of high school learners.
Many of them work to help their families or cannot work because they are helping to raise siblings.
I have terrific students who want to learn and want to keep up with their suburban counterparts. The only barriers are the resources they lack.
I love my students' motivation to do well and their perseverance when things get difficult.
My Project
Our current theater pit is a mess. We have cords running everywhere for productions! Our music stand lights take up almost all of our outlets, leaving no room for microphones or other equipment. Plus, we must replace the old bulbs for almost every show, not very cost effective.
Please help furnish our theater's orchestra pit with the music stand accessories needed to be effective, reasonable, and safe.
Every young musician deserves to be able to light up their music without tripping over cords!
Although I am a math teacher, I produce our musicals and have been known play my cello to help out the student pit orchestra.
