Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every year we are excited in class K-002 when summer is just around the corner. We know that flowers are in full bloom, that we can have recess outside, and that days at the beach are near. But our outlook is sometimes bleak when we come to school and our classroom is so hot we feel that we cannot breathe. Sometimes we even feel the sweat running down our backs. It also does not feel very good when we breath in the toxic fumes that the bus throws outside our windows. This is because we actually have a bus stop right by our classroom. The buses stay outside our window until they have to start their route again.
Very soon we will be learning about the different temperatures that we have. We will try to guess what the temperature in the room is at different times of the day. We also want to find out what happens when we have fans circulating in our room. It also will help us in the summer if our classrooms are cooler. If we have fans we expect to be able to concentrate more on our schoolwork and less on how hot and uncomfortable it is in the classroom.
I am a Kindergarten teacher and I teach all subjects in my classroom. Our school is a very close knit school and we tend to help each other when we can. Together we share fans when the weather gets to hot. Unfortunately this year many teachers have left and so have their fans. So this year we do not have enough fans to share.
The materials for this assignment will be four circular fans and 24 students will participate in the activities of different temperatures. I expect my students to learn about the different climates that can happen inside a classroom. I also want them to be able to concentrate and learn as much as possible. I know that this is difficult because of how hot it gets inside our classroom. Having the fans will help tremendously and will help us learn about difference in temperatures.
