Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 1st and 2nd grade students who are deaf and/or hard of hearing at a Title 1 school. These students have already overcome so many obstacles and are on the road to becoming successful students in their own way. My students ride the bus for over an hour each way just to come to school. Many of my students are very underprivileged and are not able to experience very much outside of what they are taught at school. My goal as an educator is to provide my students with the most experience-filled learning I can. I want my students to look back and remember everything they learned in my classroom. Not only through a textbook but through many other learning experiences.
My Project
My project includes daily essentials that our classroom uses. We are a very hands-on classroom and quickly go through our classroom supplies. These items are just some of the many that need replenishing in order to maintain our classroom. These items are used not only by the teacher by also by the students in addition to the classroom curriculum.
In our deaf and hard of hearing classroom, we learn through experiences and utilize many of these supplies to express our thoughts and display our work.
Being able to maintain classroom supplies is a must in order to be able to teach in an effective environment.
