My Students

I teach students in a self contained classroom. My students' needs vary. Many of my students have sensory needs. Some of my students are verbal while some are not. My students love movement, music and hands on activities. We use a lot of visuals in my class too.

My students work hard and play hard.

They come from different backgrounds. We serve students with single parents, working parents and even students from homeless backgrounds. They are a fun group of students. We work on academics and functional skills.

My Project

The materials purchased will be used to work on finger skills. Many students are just learning to work with pincer grasp and grabbing objects with their fingers. When they can work with materials to strengthen their fingers, they can work on more functional skills.

My students work on skills like handwriting (their name), dressing themselves, feeding themselves and academic skills.

When they can strengthen their hands through tasks that are fun and engaging, they can make progress. We need the variety of tasks to keep the work fun for them.
