My students are amazing! They are like little sponges and the more information I can present within their learning styles, the more they soak up.
Our students are an amazing group of kids that are kind, generous (even when they have so little themselves), and humble.
Regardless of what may be going on outside of the classroom, it is very rare for my students to come to school not ready to learn. They are so determined and so excited to learn. They clap after I read a good story and they ask almost every morning, "What are we going to learn today?" They have a very strong growth mindset and while I know I help create that atmosphere, they adapt quickly and fall right into the learning.
These materials will be used for learning through arts and crafts. We are a required to do curriculum from bell to bell, so to engage students and be able to tap into their creative sides, I do a lot of math and reading through art. The pom poms are used for counting, sorting, adding and subtracting. The construction paper is used for painting/writing/cutting words, sentences (both reading and math). Sometimes we even sneak in just plain, old drawing and coloring.
Beads, feathers, paper and more are great hands-on learning tools for kindergarteners.
I also added in this order textured phonics cards because this group of kiddos are struggling a bit this year and I think these just might be the turn for them to be stronger readers. The multicultural family figures were added because we simply don't have that representation in our centers and I want everyone to be included.
