My school is located in an urban/low-income area with an extremely diverse group of students. Most students do not speak English at home. Many students, particularly the ones in Kindergarten, are becoming acclimated to speaking English as a second language and are slowly transforming into emergent bilinguals.
Many students, since we have extended school days, are in school for long periods of time and our school becomes their second home.
The extremely hardworking and positive group of students in my classroom would benefit from the learning supplies that I have included. They would especially love the manipulatives to use during center time.
My Project
These learning materials and classroom additions will help my students end their year with great ease and success.
My students at this point in the year are IN LOVE with center time and the materials such as the sight word activities and sentence creation activities will help them learn and meet their goals by June!
Also, I included graduation hats for the students to wear at Kindergarten graduation which they are very excited about.
I would love to utilize these materials to assist with center time and practicing our literacy. My class loves to learn kinesthetically and the alphabet sandpaper letters would be a great addition and adhere to their needs. Also, the big box of sentence building will be great for my higher group to use as they work their way up to first grade level content material. My students have achieved so much this year and I would love to see them grow even more by utilizing these materials.
