This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Here is why our kids ♥ to knit: knitting helps them recognize patterns, count, develops fine motor skills, problem solving AND logic. And did you know that it increases right and left brain interaction? The kids ♥ it!
We are a Title 1, public charter, creative arts elementary school, in an urban district.
Our students are amazing, dedicated, hard working, and above all, eager to be the very best they can be! The energy they bring to our community is inspiring. They love to learn through arts integration, and it is an exciting way to teach.
My Project
We have requested size 13 knitting needles - great for beginners! What a luxury for us, as we have taught knitting using a variety of stand-ins: bamboo skewers, chopsticks, pencils. At long last, we look forward to putting our kids through a great program with smooth, easy to handle needles. In addition to all of the wonderful right/left brain work, knitting teaches patience, and the reward of a useful end product. Most of all, knitting is fun. The companionship of knitting with friends, or family, is wonderful.
Please support our project!
Our kids are so proud of their knit art. Knitting is more than just a craft, it is a lifelong hobby, that our students will enjoy for years to come! ~ Thank you!
