My Students

Our primary students are energetic learners who have a thirst for learning. Living in an urban neighborhood on the far south side of Chicago our students have shown that they can face any challenges that come their way! As teachers, we want to also show them that with learning can also come fun!

The experiences most of our students receive outside the classroom are limited or none at all.

They like to move, they love to read and love lots of positive attention. Many of them receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. Luckily, from the minute they walk into our school we focus on their future and make sure we meet all their needs. All the teachers try their best to be creative and positive hoping to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic achievement.

My Project

In our city, funds are limited to essentials. Unfortunately, technology is an essential but with it being expensive schools have a difficult time making those purchases. We currently share our technology cart with 6 primary classrooms.

These tablets will allow my students to have quicker and easier access to technology that they won't have to wait for.

They will be able to be used within our classroom for multiple uses and for multiple students.

The tablets will be used within their Reading block. We have access to a website, RAZ Kids, but without tech everyday it is hard to see big gains. They will also be able to use it as one of our math stations to access ZEARN, a math site that is connected to our math curriculum. We would also be able to use for research purposes within our science and social studies units.

These are just a few of the things my students would be able to do, but the possibilities are endless!
