Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Every artist was at first an amateur" -Ralph Waldo Emerson.
I am a special education teacher in an Integrated Co-Teaching classroom at a Title I school in New York City.
My students are very eager, energetic, curious 2nd grade students. They are visual, auditory, and tactile learners. They are also shy, jittery, impulsive, and need to constantly be touching things. Their reading level range from Kindergarten to 2nd grade level. My co-teacher and I firmly believe with the proper resources, they will succeed and accomplish anything they set their minds to.
My Project
Art is about being creative and using your imagination to make things. There is no right or wrong answer to art. I want my students to be exposed to all types of arts.
Donations to this project will challenge my students' creativity.
With model magic clay, my students will be able to design an object of their choice and decorate it the way they want it to look. Blank puzzle pieces will allow my students to create their own puzzles and share with their peers. All these resources will give them a sense of ownership and pride. The mini books will allow for my students to become authors and illustrators of their own books. Paint dabbers and crayons are just extra tools to help bring color to their books.
