My Students
I have the joy of teaching a group of energetic junior high students who love to read and discuss what the read. My students are active in sports, clubs, church groups, and community service. Each of them is unique and challenge me every day to be a better person and teacher.
Most of my kids have attended the same school since kindergarten which means they are a close-knit group.
They take pride in our school and work hard for me every day. We love to have fun and share the "high" points of the previous day every morning. The eighth graders are anxious to start a new chapter in a new district come August but are holding on tight to their time left together as the class of 2018. My seventh graders can't wait to be the top role models of our school next year. However, we have a lot more work to do before we make it to the end of May!
My Project
Students need to read and then read some more to gain better comprehension skills. In order to accomplish this, they need BOOKS! Books that challenge them and books that are of varying genres. This project will fill my classroom library shelves with books of many different genres and topics.
This project will offer my students a plethora of choices to read daily.
The book list contains several series that will hook students and keep them reading for several months. It also contains books for many different reading levels which will keep all students reading. The books have mostly been recommended by the students themselves. They are titles that the kids want other children to read and enjoy!
