This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are growing a garden!

Our elementary is a Title I (low income) school, thus we do not have the funds to accomplish this task on our own.

However, we do not want our students to think that this task is out of our reach. We hope to not only teach students how to create a garden and grow your own food, students can be hands-on in their garden and learn the benefits of growing their own vegetables. We anticipate being able to provide school lunches to families in our community, too. Students will learn vital skills, such as teamwork, persistence, perseverance, as well as learn to be helpful members of the community. The current garden is used as a place to grow delicious fruits and vegetables, beautiful flowers and plants, as well as a place to go to unwind, take a mental or sensory break and to breathe fresh air.
