My superstars come bouncing in the door every morning eager to fill their minds with knowledge. Students can't wait to find out not only what they will learn, but how they will learn it.
My class represents 6 countries and range from on-level readers to readers 3 grades above grade level.
This leads to the need for differentiation and the need for enrichment so every child finds success. The best part is that within our classroom, we are a school family who have one, very important thing in common, a love for learning and technology!
Students in my class are inquisitive, compassionate, and creative. As growing readers and future leaders, books and technology are so important to my students and are truly valued. Our classroom computers are an essential resource for my students. Many of my students do not have access to computers at home and rely on our school computers to utilize the valuable resources our district pays for. Each day, students inquire when they can take an AR quiz on a new book they've read or practice their math and reading skills on iReady.
My Project
I can see it now- the look of excitement and empowerment when every student has access to a computer for learning. In this 21st century world, students need computer skills as much as they need any other basic skills. With 17 students in our classroom, students have to wait a while for a turn on the computer. We are in need of 2 additional laptops in order to achieve our goal of providing more technology opportunities.
Computers empower students to do their own research and figure things out on their own.
Students light up when they are able to get online to discover their own answer to a question. Additionally, the use of computers will allow us to better differentiate instruction. During small group time, students can learn on leveled reading and math programs, getting content designed specifically for their needs. Early finishers would also be able to access computer programs more frequently, so every student is always engaged in a meaningful task.
I have noticed an extreme need for keyboarding skills. Our county purchased a typing program that kids rarely get a chance to use. These laptops will give our students the opportunity to use Typing Club and to learn the keyboard in a way that will help every step of their way in the future.
I work so hard everyday to teach my students as much as I possibly can. In an ever changing technological world, a blended learning classroom where teacher-led lessons are combined with computer learning seems to be the best way to lead our students to ultimate success. Thank you for supporting our classroom and contributing to our love for learning!
