Help me give my students food to take home with them after school.

I teach second grade in a low socioeconomic area in the heart of Birmingham, Alabama. My students come to me daily ready to learn and eager to please their teacher by doing their best work. I provide many resources myself for my classroom due to low funding. About 98% of my students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. My students would greatly benefit from these additional resources.
My students come to school hungry and lacking many things they need to be successful.
When they leave my school, they usually do not eat until the next day when they come back.
A large majority of our students do not have access to consistent food at home. With a lack of resources, these children often come to school hungry which, in turn, makes it very difficult for individual learning to happen. All children deserve to be fed and not be hungry while in the classroom. That is why one of my goals this year as a school counselor is to create an accessible school resource pantry for our students. This pantry will contain take-home snacks that can be carried in a backpack and easily prepared at home. Throughout the day, I have students constantly coming to me asking for food because they are hungry. At times, I give them my food for the day since I am unsure when their next meal will be. I will also supply breakfast for those students who are not able to eat at home. I will have a variety of options for the students since most of our students so not have many food options. When students are able to come to school prepared, their ability to concentrate and overall learning experience will improve. They can start their day off with a positive platform and focus purely on learning. This is a project in the making that is far from completion, but, when finished, this pantry will act as an amazing resource for our students.
