Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Even though we are a low-income school, that does not stop these students.
Our students have pride in our school and it shows. Many of them come from homes where they don't even have a space to call their own. My goal for my class is that I want to be able to offer them that quiet, safe, and cozy spot in the classroom, so that are able to focus and find their place that best works for them to be successful.
My Project
Environment is key when it comes to the learning experience! When I need to focus or have a quiet or comfy spot, I have that place in my home that is my go-to spot. The same should be available for students. It may be at a table or in a quiet corner where they work the best. So many students are stuck in the traditional desk due to lack of options, even if that may not be the best for them. This will give them the opportunity to do that by sitting on a cozy rug, or having a place for students who need it to have a chair that moves and allows them to focus on learning, or work collaboratively in small groups. The products such as the rug, the wobble chairs, or even the floor cushions will really help increase their classroom environment and feel a little more at home. Students spend so much time in the classroom and they need to be comfortable.
