My student's are eager to learn, as this is there first year in school. They come to Kindergarten with diverse backgrounds with a variety of income levels, most of them in the lower income level. They are wonderful, caring, eager to absorb as much information as possible, and of course wanting to please you. We have offered a few flexible seating options but as time goes on I have noticed how beneficial my few choices are and how we don't have enough options to help accommodate everyone in the classroom. I've noticed that when they are working at the comfort of their liking they are more engaged in their work. I want to offer more options to my students with the use of stools of different heights and wobble chairs.
My Project
Flexible seating is the new thing that is taken over the traditional desk you see in classrooms. I have been trying to get "on board" with this new learning tool but financial it is hard to swap out all desk and offer new seating. The kids have enjoyed the limited options I have provided, but I would love to help give them more varieties for learning. Kindergarten is the first time they are in school all day and sitting at a desk is hard for these busy bees. When they have seating options that fit their learning needs, I have seen them being more attentive in the classroom. It helps students with ADHD and special needs move around but still be able to focus on what is being said. Students are allowed to choose their own seat daily and work in a location that suits them.
