Help me give my students paints, crayons, watercolors, etc. for the opportunity to express their emotions and feelings about their experiences with the COVID-19 pandemic, through a variety of art forms.
My students are as diverse as they are amazing! They speak many different languages, have different economic backgrounds, and have different ability levels. Despite these differences, they have come together to form a strong classroom unit. The students help each other in the classroom and outside of it. They respect each other and truly want to see everyone find success. Covid has interrupted learning many times with kids going on and off quarantine at different times throughout the year but the students rally around them when they return. It is truly amazing to watch!
My Project
Many times students have a hard time vocalizing what they are feeling or going through. These resources will give my students the opportunity to express how they are feeling and what they are experiencing through a variety of art forms. Students will be able to paint with watercolors or acrylics, draw with markers or chalk, and more to release their emotions through individual works of art. These resources can also be used in all subject areas, such as for animal reports, fraction projects, illustrating books, and more.
Art in school is often reduced in order to focus on academics but art can be a great tool to help with student stress and mental health.
These resources will help my students be able to focus on improving their mental health and well-being during this uncertain time with the pandemic.
