My students are the youngest learners in our school. They are 3, 4 and 5 years old, and they love coming to school each day! Many of my students are English Language learners. I teach at a Title I school in Washington, DC. We are a diverse community of learners with over 30 different countries represented at our school.
My students are enthusiastic about learning and enjoy "buddy reading" and listening to books read aloud.
They have a love for books and are developing skills that will help them become readers and writers in the future. I am so proud to be able to help my students have a love for reading at such a young age!
My Project
These quality picture books will help our students in many ways. Pre-K students are learning to identify letters and numbers and working on other pre-reading skills. These books include many favorites that are alphabet and counting books. We will read these books aloud, and students will use them throughout the day.
These books will have a positive impact in our classroom for many years to come.
They will become part of the permanent collection in our classroom library. I am requesting many of the titles in hardcover so they will be durable and last a long time. I plan to use these books for many years to create meaningful experiences for my students.
