I am the art therapist for our school. As a member of an incredible staff, I work to include the benefits of liberal arts in each area of studies for our students. On a daily basis, students come to the art room for art projects that are designed just for their needs.
Art is such a great process for our students to express themselves.
Our student population is pulled from eight school districts in Northwest Indiana (with an average of 100-125 students).
We provide a full day of services for students who are physically, emotionally, and developmentally challenged.
My Project
Every year we have a family fun night for our students and their families. This year's theme is “Our Family will Glow Together.” By using black lights and fluorescent paints, we will turn our lunchroom into a glowing room.
Together, we will design cool glow in the dark signs and decorations.
Using these unique paints and pens and balloons our decorations will come to life under the black lights.
The night will be filled with great music and food bringing a wonderful safe space for our students and their family. Students with special needs love sharing their artistic creations with their family and friends.
