Help me give my students these costumes to complete our two plays this year. We have different sized actors this year and we are in desperate need of backdrops to complete our stage.
Each student at my elementary school receives free lunch. There is a large population that also receives food bags provided from various community supporters through our FRC to ensure that they have food over the weekend. Many of our students do not have access to books and other forms of literature. Due to these contributing factors many of our students are struggling readers.
Each interventionist, including myself, in our building services between fifty and sixty struggling kindergarten thru fourth grade students that are six months or more behind their perspective grade levels in reading.
I have twelve to thirteen groups that meet for thirty minutes each day for intense reading instruction. Having said that, my students are in need of rich text to read during our group times.
My Project
Theatre at our elementary performs two plays a year; The Best Christmas Pageant Ever on December 7th and Charlotte's Web on March 15th. Students received their parts the first of September and are EXTREMELY excited to perform for the peers and parents. These costumes will help them feel more at ease and comfortable with their characters. In the past we have had makeshift backdrops, costumes, and equipment. This year I would like to complete our costumes, backdrops, and equipment for both plays.
Due to the fact that our school is a free lunch school, our students are unable to afford the costumes on their own.
All costumes and equipment ranging from angel wings, animal outfits, and backdrops will be reused as I plan to use this play for several years to come.
