I teach in a Title I school. My students are awesome, hard-working kids; however, they struggle in the classroom with reading and math. I teach intervention math and reading classes for students in grades K-6th.
As a Title I school, we all work hard to close the achievement gap for our low-income students.
We never want a lack of technology, materials, or learning aids to hinder the high levels of learning that we all strive for and know our students are capable of.
My students struggle for a variety of reasons, but I know with hard work and determination from them and myself, we can do amazing things!
My Project
The materials that I have requested would make a dream reading center for our students. A comfy couch and corner mat where they can read a book and never want to leave! I am requesting individual cd players, headphones, a couch and comfy corner mat, as well as several read along books and reading games for our classroom.
My hope is that these materials will excite my students and help to develop a love for books and reading.
Being able to find a comfy spot and drift away into a good book is what every teacher wants for their students.
