We are Oakland strong. Grounded in the love of our community, we work everyday to challenge ourselves to solve complex problems by collaborating with our school and larger community. We know that we need to work towards content mastery to be able to solve the greater issues facing our school and beyond. We see ourselves as the authors of the future of Oakland.
Over the last 3 years, our students have made significant growth.
We're talking tripling the amount of children who are reading at proficiency by 5th grade. The amazing work being done by the students and teachers at our school site is inspiring and beautiful-- and there is so much work to be done. We appreciate any support we can get in furthering the growth and learning we are striving for!
Reading is a passport to the world, but, for many of my students, it is difficult to find a peaceful and safe place to really enjoy it. Furthermore, for students who read below grade level, reading is not something they always look forward to, especially when the classroom library is less than inviting. For that reason, I would love our classroom library to be not only full of engaging texts, but also, a place where students can't wait to be.
Please help us achieve that goal by helping me get comfy seating and reliable bookshelves and bins so students can do what they do best... learn, grow, thrive!
