Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Can you imagine sitting in writing class and having a teacher tell you what you must write on a daily basis? Well, thankfully this is not the case for my kiddos. They are given freedom in generating ideas and in materials during their writing time.
My students are thinkers, creators and fighters!
They come to school and escape from their lives at home, and are able to create such vivid stories that transport them to other places and times. My students are on free and reduced lunch, are not exposed to cultural or community events- but have a motivation to learn more.
My Project
I am requesting a writing center that is well organized, spacious and has an area for every possible material that they will need during independent writing time. They also need jumbo paper to create their works and pens to help them during this process.
This project is so important because it will allow my students to have freedom during writing time.
They will be able to pick their paper choice, choice of pens or pencils and will give them 100% ownership of the story that they are creating.
