Hi there! I am a third-year special education teacher. I teach grade levels kindergarten through 4th grade, and all of my students have special needs. I pull each child out of their regular education classroom for 45 minutes each day for their intervention time which includes math, reading, social skills, etc.
I have the most amazing group of kids that come ready to work in my room each day.
My room is a safe space for them to learn, and to never feel judged based on what may be challenging for them in their academics. Although I have only been with these students for such a short period, I have seen much growth from each of them! Although, some days are harder than others. Most of my students do not have the ideal home-life that a person may imagine. They deal with things at home that I could have never imagined even thinking about when I was a child, much less having to worry about the problems that they take on at such a young age. This is why I want my classroom to be somewhere they can enjoy spending time at!
We love cozy learning! My students absolutely love flexible seating while their learning! I have a cozy corner in my room right now, but it needs some help haha. I have a furry rug that I am unfortunately going to have to get rid of because my kids have spent so much time on it that it has served its purpose and it is time to get something new. I also have a few pillows that are worn out.
This new rug and couch for our classroom would be absolutely amazing!!
My students would be so happy to see our corner turn into something great. They spend so much time here using white boards, reading off of our word wall, and so many other activities. We do not spend much time at a table or in a desk because I have found my students stay engaged when they are comfortable and get much more accomplished. It does not matter to me where they sit, as long as it helps them to learn! This cozy corner is also a place for my students to decompress and take a few minutes to detach if needed at anytime during the day. This couch and rug would totally change our classroom in such a positive way. Thank you guys so much for all of your support!
