In my classroom each period, you will find over 30 bright, hard-working, and motivated 8th graders. These 198 students come from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Their knowledge of different cultures only increases their interest in the Spanish language and various countries associated with it. Experiencing different countries is something that cannot be fully understood by reading or word of mouth. The closest one can get is by seeing what it is like through video.
It is my goal to ensure that my classroom is a place where all students believe that their connection and engagement with the Spanish-speaking world is a top priority.
My students are in middle school and as such have grown up accessing technology from a young age. They are living in an ever-increasing technological environment. Though many of my students use mobile phones on a daily basis, many of them do not have access to computers. Using computers is a vital part of adolescence, and preparation for success in high school and college.
My Project
Using computers is something we may take for granted in our everyday lives. Even our cell phones are small computers. They allow us to look up important information, share about our lives on social media, and see what is going on around the world.
Computers in the classroom are a vital part of 21st century education.
We need to keep our students not only engaged in the content we are teaching, but technologically literate as well. Many of our students will go on to be computer programmers, software engineers, and more. Preparing them now will help them be successful in high school, college, and the workforce.
