I teach a bilingual classroom of 25 students that work hard and are ready to learn. Though some may think of Kindergarten as a year of play, but in actuality my kindergarteners work hard and learn a lot in a very short time. When you enter my classroom door, you immediately see little minds at work. At first, it may look as if students are only having fun, but they are actually learning valuable lessons that are preparing them for the future. The development of self-esteem is one of the most important goals in kindergarten, and each one of my students feels that what they have to offer is important. In my class they are learning life lessons that help them tackle the challenges of learning. I don’t know if a perfect classroom exists, but my goal is to strive for the best.
A large, colorful rug will provide a warm gathering space for morning meeting, mini-lessons, shared reading, partner work, and social skills lessons. Because this rug has designated sections, each student will enjoy his or her own space. The rug will enable students to efficiently work as partners, in small-groups, or as a whole class. I will be using the cart for my centers, and the chart holder for our daily vocabulary.
This large rug will become the focal point of our classroom, providing a space to gather for instruction, build connections, and create a community of learners.
The students we teach deserve to learn in a comfortable, cozy place they can call "home." Your support will help ensure our students feel a special sense of belonging when they enter our room.
