Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are scientists. My students are mathematicians. My students are readers. My students are authors. My students are explorers. My students make discoveries each and every day.
Our Science Academy provides our students with a fast-paced and rigorous STEM curriculum.
It is our mission to provide our students with a challenging and inquiry-based STEM curriculum to maximize individual potential and ensure that our students succeed in a global community. Our goal is to expose students to as many learning opportunities that will prepare them for the future as possible, all while bringing to the forefront ideas and concepts that they may not have considered before.
My Project
We need books that will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. Our titles include The Hunger Games set, Children of Blood and Bone, Harbor Me, Schooled, Posted and more. Every book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and my students are continually thankful for the opportunities to read books they may not have access to otherwise. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind-I have watched them the past few weeks of school read titles just like these, and I have also asked them what type of books they would enjoy reading. Students will be able to choose from a wider selection of books, which will help them continue to enjoy their independent reading time and develop as readers.
The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger as readers and citizens of the world.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level and with their own interests in mind. This project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
