Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a second year teacher in a low-income school district, there are many resources that my students need to use to learn in order to become successful. This includes resources such as technology, writing utensils, reading materials, mathematics manipulatives, and structural materials to create an organized, comfortable and inviting classroom. Teaching in a low-income school district means that my students are faced with challenges inside and outside of the classroom. I want to provide my students with essential learning utensils to help them succeed.
My classroom will include twenty-four compassionate, creative, and eager learners who want to be successful and change the world.
In my classroom, my students face a number of challenges. Ninety percent of my students come to school knowing English as their second language. Many of my students are homeless or live in a multi-family household with limited resources. Some come from households where they are raised by a single parent who works two or three jobs. Despite these challenges, my students are dedicated to learning and make the best out of all situations. Having more resources for these children will help them be more confident and successful learners. Let's help them meet their goals!
My Project
I love helping my students fall in love with reading! They are so excited to participate in Reading Workshop each day, and their love for new books is inspiring! In order to keep them interested and motivated, I need to add more leveled books to our classroom library. The second grade books will help my students who are reading at grade level, while the first grade books will help my students who are struggling. The Post-it notes will be useful for their stop and jots that they use each day! And who doesn't love a classroom that has many positive and inspiring quotes hanging up?!
The desk to put our projector and speakers on would be another wonderful resource for my students to use in the classroom.
With the desk's extra space to put everything, it would be easier for the kids to show their projects, writing skills, math skills, and much more.
