In my class, we use project based learning for students to create their own learning.
To enhance my students' learning, they need more flexible seating options. This will help them further their learning.
I teach an incredible group of 4th graders who are each beautiful and special in their own ways. At the end of the day, they are the ones who inspire me.
My Project
Having these flexible seating options will allow my students to take charge of their learning by choosing where to sit where they will work their best. During center time, they choose any seating in the classroom, and they complete their work. They choose where to sit based upon what works best for them.
My students currently are choosing to work in a variety of seating in our room using bungee chairs and cushions.
They can sit or lie down on the floor with clip boards or use one of the two spinning office chairs.
Making sure students feel safe and comfortable is a vital component in motivating them to succeed and do their best. I have noticed incredible differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. This flexible seating allows the students to be more engaged, and it makes learning fun. When they are given a choice of where to sit, they are more engaged in their work, and they are not as distracted.
The items that I have chosen will help my students by giving them more seating options. The Wobble stools are adjustable and will allow students to sit at desks, but they will also allow some movement. They will be so beneficial to my students because many of them are active, and need movement! The activity tray will allow students to work on the carpet or cushions or wherever the student would like.
I have seen the positive changes the flexible seating has done in our classroom, and I cannot wait to see what having more flexible seating can do!
