I teach sixth grade math and social studies in an intermediate school. I adore these kids and want to make sure they get the most out of their education as possible. My students are a fun, energetic, hardworking group. They love to be challenged and are continually finding new ways to solve problems.
These kids are a team that encourage and lift each other up.
They seek out those who don't have as many friends and include them. Whenever I need help I have hands shooting up to help out no matter what the need is.
My Project
In my classroom, my students have specific jobs that they do each week. They need to apply for these positions and be approved by me. At the end of the week they are paid for doing their classroom job. Students can also earn money for their behavior, turning in their work, working hard, helping others and being kind. We hold a class store auction twice a year where students can spend the money they have earned.
I would love to fill my classroom store with items that will encourage students to work hard, persevere, and give their work their all.
The items that I choose for my classroom store include things that the students are interested in and want. A few of these things are games, such as Apples to Apples, Spot it!, a hand drone, headphones, an emoji ball, glow in the dark paint, and a unicorn ball popper.
My students learn great life skills by participating in our classroom economy. They learn that if they do a good job and give an honest, hard-working effort it pays off in the end. They also learn how to manage money.
This classroom economy not only helps the students learn how to work hard, but it also helps keep the class running smoothly.
