Our Carpet is Almost 40 Years Old!

My students need a new rug to gather on for instruction. Our carpet hasn’t been replaced since our school was built in 1979! It sounds like there is no plan to replace it anytime soon.

My Students

I have the pleasure of teaching all of our fourth graders throughout the day. They fill my heart with joy! They deserve a space that nurtures their ability to achieve all that they are capable of. Our carpet is in pretty awful shape. Despite our amazing custodians trying to keep it as clean as possible, how clean can it really be after almost 40 years of children? Some of our best conversations happen while we meet at carpet together. Thank you for considering donating to our project!

My Project

A new rug will provide an inviting place to meet for instruction. We gather at the carpet multiple times a day and I cringe at the state of our floor. I know my students will be so much more excited to sit together on a new rug. Sometimes the little things really help inspire learning and I think a rug could make the world of a difference. I have up to thirty 4th graders in my classroom at once, so two of this size rug will be needed. This way everyone can fit without being too close to their neighbors.
