This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
On average, I teach 85 students a year. They come from a low socio economic background. Their cultures range from African American, Caucasian, Asian, and Mexican. Almost 80% of our school are on free/reduced-price lunch.
My students are my children and they know this.
They know that I am their school mom, teacher, friend, confidant, and whatever else they need. I am here to encourage them and let them know that I have high expectations for them.
My students are very hard workers and when they come into my class each day, I have the task of teaching them lessons about Ancient Civilizations to encourage them. I know that if I make learning fun and exciting, my students will be excited about it as well. It drives my passion.
My Project
Sadly, this year our district is closing our district warehouse which will mean more money will have to come from our pockets to purchase supplies. I normally redo my bulletin boards every two or so years, and now is the time. I am asking for funds to make my bulletin boards creative and funds to supply my students with pencils, flair pens, etc to do so. Our classroom could also use a cork board where students will be able to post and share inspirational words of encouragement for other students. We just need your help with getting it in the door.
