As a teacher in a Title I school, my students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
They like to move, they love to read, and they love lots of positive attention.
From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth, educationally and mentally. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire our deserving learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My Project
Children that move and have the freedom of movement at their desk can stay focused on a task longer and stronger! Each student's desk will receive a Bouncy Band for fidgety feet and energy release. With these bands, the students can bounce their feet on the band creating a flexible seating scenario.
The bands allow students to release nervous energy and feel calmer while seated at the desk.
Studies have found that the use of these type of bands enables students to stay on task longer and in a quieter, more relaxed manner. I have several students who have a hard time staying seated for longer than 10-15 minutes, and other students who are pen-tappers and aren't always conscious of the distraction they're causing. Bouncy Bands have proven to improve students' ability to remain on task by providing a release for hyperactivity or anxiety.
