Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have been teaching art since 2002. I started in Brevard County Florida then relocated to Oahu Hawaii. I was on vacation in Northern Cal when I was offered a job to teach as an art teacher (VAPA, Visual and Performing Art Teachers) of Pajaro Valley School District. I am very excited to teach here.
My school has primarily English Learners.
We have 89% free and reduced lunch. This is a new program for this district and funds are very limited for supplies. The families are wonderful and help supply me with recycled materials to use for art projects.
I am a floating art teacher in classes at various times of the day and in the cafeteria other times of the day. There is no art room or even a place to store student artwork and I teach 302 students 7 classes each day. Regardless of this these students love art and help me out throughout the day.
They are so happy and very excited to create.
My Project
All students will utilize the PA system. They will be able to hear me teach. I will also use this PA system to play classical music while the students create.
All students will use the watercolor paper, watercolor pencils, and watercolor paints in several lessons throughout the year. All students artwork will be dried on the drying rack.
The artists we will be learning about are Picasso and Georgia O'Keeffe for these upcoming lessons
We just need to supplies to move forward.
These students will benefit by having the chance to paint.
Some of these students have never even picked up a paint brush before. By showing them famous artist from the past these students will be inspired to create even more beautiful artwork. Your donations will help supply us with the materials to do this and much more.
