My students need upgraded instruments so that we can be successful at Texas State UIL Competition. The concert bass drum we are requesting is a staple in every successful band program around the state.

My Students
My students love music and they love coming to band! Our students need these instruments to assist them in their community performances and help them make the best sounds they can possibly make!
Our program has tripled in size since I started teaching at my school and our budget has decreased each year, so we don't have the funds to purchase basic items for the kids.
Some of these students had zero hope of ever being able to afford to play an instrument, until they came to our school, where we provide an instrument to every student. Music is a huge part of Texas's education and our students deserve the best. These students have worked very hard over the past three years to grow this program from literally 40 students to over 300. They are dedicated and passionate and love coming to band. We are one of the few CCC middle schools in the North Texas area that doesn't turn students away simply because they can't afford to buy or rent an instrument and the supplies that go with it.
My Project
My students have been playing on lower quality instruments since I started teaching at this school. I would love to show them how great a higher level instrument is and how it can make whatever they're playing 100 times easier to play. My students work so hard and they are using equipment that makes the hard music we play much more challenging than it needs to be. They could learn a lot more music and not be so frustrated or disheartened if they were playing on instruments that allowed them to play at a higher level.
The requested concert bass drum, trap table, and chimes are to help fulfill missing pieces of our percussion section that we have simply never had in our program but that every piece we must play in competition requires us to have.
Many times my percussion students play on these instruments for the first time at contests! The concert bass drum we requested is a staple of every successful band program in the state and currently, my students are still playing on a small bass drum from the 1950s era. Although it is a rather cool antique, it certainly doesn't fit the needs of our program or my talented students.
