We are a Title I school in a major city and a lot of our students come from difficult home lives. It's a high poverty area, and this year our school budget has been cut severely. We need your help!
We are one of the few schools in the area that has a strong art program, and I am so grateful for it.
Over the past six years that I have been here, I have seen more and more students turn to art as a form of expression. These students love art, and I think it's important to keep that love growing.
As this school year is winding down I'm looking at my classroom and realizing there are some basic supplies we are going to need for next year.
That is why I am asking for the bare necessities: pencils for drawing, an electric sharpener for the classroom, and portfolios for my 7th and 8th grade students to take work home with.
We use the materials everyday and create wonderful works of art. I want to keep the same creative momentum going through next year. It would break my heart to tell students to not draw as much and limit their ambitions. That is why I need your help!
