Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Among the Hidden is exciting and provokes thoughts and ideas in young minds. We need a classroom set of books that can withstand the beating of a serious reading. This book has spurred many of my students to read the entire series by Maddox. Help me inspire other students to do the same.
We are an urban middle school in Kansas.
Funding is tight, books are not always available at school, let alone at home. My classroom is a sixth grade Language Arts class. Students are performing better than the average in the district. We need your help to keep them learning.
My Project
I'm requesting a classroom set of the novel Among the Hidden to get students to read a book that really makes them think and challenges their principles and morals. I want to know what they would do and what issues they find worth fighting for. The novel ties real world issues to a fictional story and forces kids to make tough decisions.
This novel really does make an impact.
Students start to understand that some things are worth fighting for. It forces students to think about what social issues they think are important, and what they would do if they knew something was wrong.
