Our 5th-grade classes are dynamic environments that foster inquiry-based learning. We believe that all students should have equal opportunities to explore and create rich academic experiences. Our grade is a group of 110 fifth graders in Brooklyn, NY. Our classrooms are filled with various cultures and life experiences due to students with families from around the world. In turn, empathy and understanding are naturally embedded in our classroom communities. Students are the center of our classroom communities. We encourage them to guide their own learning and become thinkers that question the world around them.
My Project
This project was created to give all children the tools to excel in our 5th grade learning community. By donating materials to our 5th-grade classes, every child will begin the school year ready to learn without the worry of acquiring personalized school supplies. This project provides comfort to families and students by ensuring that all kids will have exactly what they need throughout the school year. It also allows families to spend more time with their children throughout the summer instead of rushing around to find items on the class supply list. We 5th-grade teachers strongly believe that this is the most equitable and efficient way to collect school supplies for the upcoming school year!
