My second grade students are fun, energetic, playful learners. They are eager to try and experience new things. However, in our small community, new experiences don't happen to the majority of them very often, and when they do, they happen here at school.
As a teacher, I want my students to succeed not only in my classroom, but in the world outside of my classroom.
I want to give them experiences and learning tools that will give them a knowledge that will open doors for them they might not have otherwise.
My Project
Literacy and math workstations are a huge part of our instructional day. With technology taking over the world, I try to give my students the opportunity to enhance their skills using any resource I can. The OSMO kits help reinforce basic skills needed as well as enriching the skills that are mastered.
These requested Osmo Genius Kits will give my students a hands-on approach to working with letters and numbers on a variety of skills.
I currently have two OSMO kits in my classroom and they have been used and loved so much they need replacing. In the past they have been the one thing my students beg to play and learn on. Now there are so much more to the OSMO kits than we had marginally, I would love to update to the ones that can teach coding and numbers.
Osmo Genius Kits can help the struggling readers with beginning, medial, and ending sounds and it can help advance the higher readers by working with blends, digraphs, and multisyllabic words. It can do the same for math, as well, by helping with their addition and subtraction fact fluency and coding.
These kits will be used daily and every student in my class will be able to rotate to them at least 2-3 times each week.
