Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach Second Grade Gifted/Challenge students and our school is a high poverty, Title One school in a suburb of Chicago. The majority of students in our school are on a free or reduced priced lunch program. While I teach Challenge students, our school student population is very diverse, including students with special needs and English Language Learners, and Gifted learners. Our classroom is a happy, busy, and interactive place!
My second grade students are bright, inquisitive, and love learning!
They embrace new experiences, work together, and encourage each other! They love using technology the most!
My Project
The Osmo is a groundbreaking gaming system that fosters creative thinking and collaborative learning. When paired with an iPad, the Osmo transforms the area in front of the tablet into an interactive environment. The students will use physical objects in the area in front of the tablet to ply math games, solve puzzles, spell words, and even learn coding! My students will be able to use the iPad and Osmo at one of our workstations as I work with small groups. They will be able to learn and practice reading and math skills while working collaboratively with their classmates, strengthening essential social skills!
