My students need the Osmo Genius Kit and Osmo Number Games to explore mathematics through STEM. This will give them other opportunities to explore basic addition and subtraction while having fun.
Our school is a Title I, public school located on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. My classroom is made up of an energetic mixed ability group of students. These students are a highly diverse group of both cultural and ethnic backgrounds. More than 75% of my students also come from low income households. My students are seven and eight year olds who come from an array of different home situations, but at the end of the day, every family wants their child to be successful. My desire is to provide my students with the materials as well as opportunities to help them succeed.
My Project
My students love technology. This activity will help my students further their math and reading skills, but explore and use critical thinking skills while using technology. The Osmo, and Osmo games will help my students grow smarter as the year progresses.
This STEM activity will allow my students to explore hands-on and mind-on lessons while learning everyday skills.
It will allow all my students exposure to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics while also having fun. This project will help foster learning while also helping with key concepts of mathematics and reading. It will help reinforce what we are learning in the classroom while keeping it fun and interactive for all of my students. By exposing my students to STEM it will allow my students the opportunity to explore activities that will help expand everyday experiences that they will explore later in life. This STEM technology helps build gaps in both reading and math.
