I teach a 2nd grade classroom that is diverse economically, culturally, and academically. My students come from all walks of life. While some of them come from stable, two-income homes, others are from single-parent households who struggle to make ends meet. This diversity is what makes my classroom, our school, and the community in which we live special. I value the unique personalities and differences.
The community in which our school lies, is a very caring one.
Several years ago, a bus accident took the lives of two of our children and a teaching assistant. Through this tragedy, a special bond was created which remains and makes our school a wonderful place in which to teach and learn.
My Project
Osmo makes math and reading exciting by bringing learning to life! We received an Osmo base through Title I funding this past year. Our students love being able to go to the Osmo! It makes learning fun for them.
The Osmo provides hands-on activities using our iPads and manipulatives.
My students are so excited about adding on to the Osmo learning area by adding an additional base and some incredible games that will help them with reading, coding, fractions, and basic math skills.
Many of our students do not have access to technology at home. It is special for them to be able to learn in this way when they come to the classroom! Being able to build our technology library and make learning fun and engaging creates adventure and brings excitement to learning!
