My students need continuing opportunities to learn skills through play. Kindergarten is a developmental age where play is still very important. Technology is an extremely important piece of education as well. Osmo is a win-win combination!
I teach Kindergarten in a Title I school. Kindergarten is a busy place! We have a flexible seating classroom and students are allowed to choose a new seat each day from wobble stools to rocking chairs to pillows laying on the floor. Classroom management and organization are always the biggest battle in Kindergarten.
Kindergarten is an extremely busy place; students work in small groups independently during our reading center time to allow me to pull levelized reading groups and work with small groups.
I'm always looking for new, innovative learning opportunities for students to do independently.
My Project
The OSMO kits will allow me to integrate iPads and the Osmo learning games into our daily center time. Students will have the opportunity to learn by using the interactive, manipulative pieces that come in the OSMO kits. I am continually looking for iPad games that meet academic standards and that keep students engaged during small group time, allowing me to work with small groups of students at their own level. The Osmo kits will give us more variety in the academic game choices and make iPad time more interactive. I can't wait to see how excited students will be to solve math problems, create words, and more with the Osmo.
