Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach kindergarten at a public school in urban LA County. I have 26 lively five year olds. My kindergarten students come from various socioeconomic levels and various ethnicities. Some are English language learners, and some are students with special needs. Many receive free or reduced lunch. All are excited about being in kindergarten. For some this is their very first time in school as they have never been to preschool. All are excited to learn and be at school each day.
My Project
Technology is changing the way students learn. It is also an important tool to learn how to use not only in school but in their future careers. My students love using Ipads and Osmo is an amazing tool that works with the Ipad. It allows students to practice their math and phonics skills in a hands on manner. We use Ipads as part of our collaborative learning stations. I learned about Osmo in a workshop I attended and I knew my students would love using it!
Osmo helps with problem solving, creative thinking and also will allow them to practice coding.
Think about that: Kindergarteners practicing coding!!! It is my job to prepare them for the future and having Osmo in our classroom will help me do this. Thank you for your help in preparing my students!
