This is my second year teaching first grade. My students are learning how to be independent!
We are a Title One school, meaning many of our students come from poverty-stricken homes.
Some of them do not have parental support at home after school. Therefore, they are excited to come to school and learn. I love bringing them new and exciting ways to learn.
Your funding will help them learn interactively about phonics, addition and shapes. These are very needed skills for them to be successful.
My Project
Osmo helps learning to be fun! Students use handheld pieces with an iPad. I have the ability to monitor what the student is doing in the game, and their progress as they start the program and grow into more advanced learning.
With the Pizza Co., the students can make pizza for customers, collect payment and make change (dollars/coins).
The coding piece uses coding blocks to go on a fun-filled adventure enabling coding and problem solving.
All of these are great learning tools for the students. They will be able to practice skills already learned in an independent learning environment. They will gain self esteem by accomplishing new tasks.
