Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
At our Title I school, one hundred percent of our student population qualifies for the free breakfast and lunch program. Over 80% of our students are English language learners. As the Humanities/Garden STEAM lab teacher, I have the honor to serve approximately 380 students grades K-5th, including special education students. We are located in an area of high poverty and most of our students do not have the opportunity to enjoy high quality, educational technology at home. As a 21st century educator, it is a high priority to provide these types of technologies to my 21st century learners.
Over 80% of our student population are second language learners and qualify for the free lunch program.
This donation will make a significant difference in their access to high quality, fun technology.
My Project
My goal is to use these OSMO kits in conjunction with iPads both with my STEAM learning lab and with my small group reading intervention class. In total, over 300 students will have access to these 21st century learning kits. My small group reading intervention students will be able to gain reading skills with the reading game and my STEAM Lab students will gain coding abilities with the OSMO coding kits. These kits will encourage a love of STEAM to kids that would not normally have access to high end technology.
My students need high quality STEM Learning Labs in order for them and their families to recognize and develop their assets.
With OSMO our students and their families will be able to practice Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math in a new way
