I am a teacher in a Title 1 school, with 60% of our students having free or reduced lunch. We are in a very rural area and most parents are working two jobs. Despite any obstacles at home, our students come to school ready to learn!
We are always trying to encourage students by giving them experiences in the classroom they might not get otherwise.
Our early elementary students are so inquisitive!
I created a STEM room last year at our school and the students are so excited to visit and engage in learning. This project will expand upon that learning experience.
My Project
This tool will used mostly in k-3 where they are beginning to code. This will be a great introduction to coding and will help them feel confident that they can move onto Java Script later. Using their problem solving skills, they will be coding the robot on the ipad to do certain tasks. This is a unique program because it uses 3-D coding pieces that will be recognized through the iPad. Now that software coding is a part of all kinds of routine jobs, the basic knowledge of how lines of code create the digital worlds we explore every day is becoming a fundamental digital literacy.
