Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students are full of energy and have a need for engaging instruction that allows for real life application. Representatives of the population of Oakland and having specific needs when it comes to learning, puts them at an even higher disadvantage than some of their peers.

They are strong self advocates, at times verbalizing they don't understand; requesting a topic to be explained differently.

Their brilliance shines through as they consistently display resilience and courage. Their desire to learn to learn is one that deserves equal access to learning.

My Project

Having appropriate furniture, such as a cube organizer, to model organization in the classroom will be a good way to show students the importance of everything having a place. This item would be used to store away classroom supplies and books that are not utilized on a daily basis.

Bringing school spirit into the classroom will help support my sped students continue to build on their social-emotional learning skills.

Keeping this in mind I would like to establish PANTHER PRIDE in the classroom. The red and white lanterns will help in creating a classroom that students can be prideful about. Students love to walk in and see a well decorated classroom; it changes their whole mood towards learning in a positive way.
