This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a Title I school in North Carolina, and many of my students are at-risk of academic failure. This is many of my students' first time in a school setting. The early learners in my class are more interested in the process of discovering and manipulating materials than the final products of their experiments.
Learning experiences are meaningful and relevant for every child and reflect his or her developmental, cultural, and individual circumstances.
My students love to move and be active. However, because of recent budget cuts, we are unable to purchase additional resources such as the ones requested.
My Project
The students will use the storage boxes to function more effectively in the classroom by storing our thematic materials for each month together. I will be able to differentiate the student’s instruction better by being able to access the materials easier. Right now our space is not well-organized and this creates problem areas. I believe these materials will get rid of over crowed spaces in the classroom that encourage disorder and unruly behavior. With the new organized room arrangement my preschool classroom will promote more desirable actions in all the children. I want my students to have easy and effective use of learning materials and other classroom supplies.
This project will make a difference by allowing my students to gain their independence when accessing materials needed to express themselves and learn in a hands-on way.
Also when we play outdoors, we need a new umbrella. The one we had before was stolen off our playground. It is important to have shaded areas to rest when the students become over heated. Thank you donors for helping to solve some of the problems in with storage and safety in my classroom.
